The modern mermaid has discarded her traditional
mirror in favour of her 3G WAP phone, this way she can trawl the Net
and surf to her heart's content without being caught by a fisherman
or washed away by the tides.
Carved from the sound end of an old oak gatepost, approximately 18in
x 6in x 6in she is finished in Danish Oil and suitable for indoors or
outdoors.
In her hand she holds her
mobile phone, the numbers are marked using a
pyrography pen.
The starfish is textured
using various sized punches, its tentacles
cut with a V tool.
A large crab with
serrated claws lies on the rock
above her.
Limpets cling in a
crevice, seaweed hangs from above.
